Mirant Pregonda, the White Essence of a Wild Menorcan Landscape

Bep Al·lès/Ferreries – Among the rocky hillsides battered by the tramontana winds on the Sant Josep estate in Ferreries, Mirant Pregonda is born, a white wine that captures the most authentic character of northern Menorca. Produced under Enric Picanyol’s Morvedra project, this wine represents a firm commitment to organic viticulture, minimal intervention, and a deep connection to the land.

Mirant Pregonda is an elegant blend of prensal blanc — a traditional Balearic grape variety — and malvasia, two varieties vinified separately before being blended together. The prensal provides subtlety, structure, and body, while the malvasia adds aromatic freshness and an alluring floral touch. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks, where it remains for six to eight months, before resting for nearly two years in bottle to further refine its profile.

In the glass, it displays a pale yellow colour with metallic highlights. On the nose, it stands out for its aromas of ripe white fruit, floral notes, and a slight minerality that evokes the slate soils of the island’s north. On the palate, it offers a smooth entry, with good breadth, a creamy texture, and a balanced, elegant persistence.

This is a wine that calls for Mediterranean cuisine and, above all, Menorcan gastronomy. It pairs magnificently with lobster stew, baked fish, cuttlefish with onions, cockles, or clams in marinara sauce. It also accompanies aged Menorcan cheeses and traditional dishes such as arròs de la terra or a rich fish stew.

Mirant Pregonda is, ultimately, a wine that gazes directly at the Menorcan landscape and transforms it into a fresh, saline, and deeply personal experience.
