Sa Marjaleta, the family as the heart of the winery

Andreu Casasnovas, the father, together with his daughter Glòria Casasnovas and his son Andreu, have turned this project into a reality. Although Glòria dedicates 100% of her time to it, family collaboration has been key in driving the winery to where it is today. Andreu Casasnovas “Avelino”, the estate’s winemaker, complements this team with his knowledge and experience, guaranteeing high-quality wines; while Andreu Jr. is responsible for the winery’s sales and marketing.

The Sa Marjaleta winery has been a pioneer in the recovery of the Menorcan winemaking tradition, combining it with modern techniques to produce wines with character and authenticity. Its commitment to sustainable production and the careful selection of cultivated varieties have allowed this project to consolidate itself as one of the most outstanding on the island.

One of the major recent advances for the estate has been the authorization of Garnacha as a variety included within the Protected Geographical Indication, which allows it for the first time to be marketed under the certification Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca.

With a total of six hectares of vineyards, Sa Marjaleta works with a selection of varieties adapted to the climate and soil conditions of Menorca. Among the red varieties, Syrah and Merlot stand out, producing wines with structure and great aging potential. As for white varieties, they cultivate Viognier and Chardonnay, offering fresh and aromatic wines, perfect for pairing with local gastronomy.

In addition, the estate produces a multivarietal wine based on Merlot combined with other varieties, achieving a balanced and complex expression that reflects the identity of Sa Marjaleta. This diversity allows the winery to create wines with different nuances, always maintaining a common thread based on quality and authenticity.

With the recent inclusion of Garnacha under the Vi de la Terra recognition, Sa Marjaleta now faces new challenges ahead. The goal is to continue expanding production while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and excellence. The estate aims to keep researching new cultivation and winemaking techniques, exploring the possibilities offered by the unique conditions of the Menorcan territory.

Furthermore, with the consolidation of the brand and the growing interest in Menorcan wine, the winery seeks to expand its presence in national and international markets, showcasing the uniqueness of its wines beyond the island.

Thus, this family project continues working to bring the best of Menorca’s vineyards to every glass of wine. Authenticity, passion, and excellence are the pillars that make this estate a benchmark in Menorca’s wine landscape.
