Foodies on Menorca
Thanks to Vinum Menorca, today we present you a very interesting rosé wine. It is Masia La Sala, produced by Cellers Vallformosa, known for its cavas, within the DO Penedès. We are looking at an organic, vegan, ecological and Mediterranean wine with a blend of Merlot, Sumoll and Tempranillo, which makes it pleasant, persistent, gastronomic, versatile and elegant.
In the glass: Live rosé of medium intensity, with reddish reflections and a slightly saline touch.
On the nose, intense aroma of fresh red fruit – mainly raspberries and strawberries – with nuances of pear liqueur. Spicy touches and a subtle core of anise are detected at the end..
On the palate it gives a tasty and meaty flavor, with good structure and volume. The mouthfeel maintains this sensation thanks to a balanced acidity. Ripe red fruit is noticeable, with a slightly fruity skin and a spicy persistence that relegates the anise towards the end.
This rosé is ideal both to accompany light meals and to enjoy alone, especially during the warmer months.
Starters and tapas: Iberian ham or soft cold cuts, anchovies with bread and tomato, soft or fresh cheeses such as Menorca soft cheese with beef heart tomato, aged cheese with fig jam or semi-island cheese such as Son Salom or Binigarba. It is also ideal to accompany a tuna or salmon tartare with avocado.
Salads and fresh dishes: Torretrencadeta sheep cheese salad with red fruits and nuts, pasta salad with olives, tuna and mild fig jam vinaigrette or a Caprese salad with mild pesto.
Light main courses: Vegetable risotto or seafood rice, pasta with tomato sauce, basil and Quintana aged cheese. Grilled white fish with herbs (sea bream, sea bass) or a Granges Calules chicken marinated with lemon and rosemary.
Fusion and world cuisines: Sushi or sashimi (especially with salmon or tuna), vegetable or chicken gyozas, light sea bass ceviche with lime and coriander or a couscous with roasted vegetables and nuts.
Desserts such as fresh red fruits with Greek yogurt, strawberry ice cream or raspberry sorbet, S’Arajanssa cheesecake with apple and pumpkin jam or a fruit salad with fresh mint leaves go well with it.
