Thanks to Vinum Menorca, today we present Mexillón 2024, a 100% Albariño with lees work. We are looking at a young, expressive and Atlantic white wine, which captures the essence of the variety in a recent harvest year. Ideal to consume during 2025 and to enjoy it in good company.
In the glass: Very pale straw yellow color with lemon-green reflections. High brightness, typical of a young and freshly released wine. Fine and light tear.
On the nose: Clean and very fresh aromas, with marked varietal intensity where white fruit such as green apple and pear stand out; citrus fruits such as lime and grapefruit; floral notes and a subtle and elegant saline touch
On the palate dry and lively entry, with very marked but well-integrated acidity typical of young Albariños. Light-medium body with great freshness. Citrus fruit and final salinity with a very pleasant and refreshing aftertaste.
Ideal to accompany dishes where fish and seafood are the protagonists, as well as cow cheeses, oriental and Latin cuisine dishes.
Seafood: Steamed or grilled mussels, clams a la marinera, cockles etched with a few drops of lemon, oysters in their natural state, grilled razor clams, grilled red prawns or boiled cornets with mayonnaise.
Fish: Grilled or grilled white fish: sea bass, sea bream, longline hake; cod gratin with garlic and pear oil, red bread, salted anfós or baked dentex a la Menorquina.
Fusion and world cuisines: Tuna tartare with soy and citrus, sea bass or sea bass ceviche, sushi and sashimi, vegetable or shrimp gyozas, king prawn pad thai, cockles with lime and ginger.
It goes well with Galician cheeses such as Tetilla, Sant Simón d'Acosta, Arzua-Ulloa, as well as the buttery cheeses from Menorca such as Madó Coloma.
