Miriam Triay / Ciutadella – In early 2020, Tobal Caules and his wife, Marga Orfila, decided to embark on a new adventure. The project, 4 Cadires, born from an idea filled with enthusiasm, became a place to be among family, to create bonds, and to form friendships. Now, after five years of enjoyment and sharing, the establishment wishes to celebrate with its regular customers—both summer visitors and year-round patrons—their company, support, and presence. Thus, on August 15th and 16th, the venue will reopen its doors and host a summer party to enjoy together.
Designed as a gastroteca, the venue, located at 11 Sant Pere Street, has spent five years offering both locals and visitors the opportunity to enjoy fine and carefully selected wines, tapas, and gourmet appetizers. A project that can be defined as a passion rediscovered, a return to the roots.
Coming from the family behind Cafè Balear, gastronomy and the wine world have always been deeply tied to his life. Specializing in wines, he has been leading the commercial management of Catchot Gourmet for almost three decades. It wasn’t until five years ago, however, that the desire to relive the emotions he remembered from childhood—behind a bar—pushed him to start his own project. “I’ve always had a lingering desire, a need to be behind a bar, to feel again that sensation from when I was little, running between my parents’ legs behind the ‘Bale’ bar, a feeling I thought would fade with time, but it hasn’t.” Now, that sensation is back.
Thus, 4 Cadires is a family project, a return to origins, and a renewal moving forward. A fusion between Caules’ passion for wine, the wine world, and his family memories. But it is also a dream connected to his cultural side, his more impulsive nature, which drives him to organize unique events—from small live music concerts to themed parties like the upcoming August 15th and 16th celebration.
Behind it all is not only Tobal Caules but also his wife, as mentioned, Marga Orfila, and his brother-in-law, Tavio Orfila. “Without them, the project would not be what it is. The three of us make up 4 Cadires, along with all the people who have been with us—from the first customer to the most recent. They are all now part of a big family.”
It is this unity that they want to celebrate: the ongoing support and presence, the way the project has grown thanks to those who have been part of it. And now it deserves a celebration “done right.” “It’s a way to bring together our regular customers, both summer and winter, and thank them for all they have done and continue to do, and what they mean to us. That’s why we will not only open the venue for them over two days but also give them a few surprises—gifts such as raffles of products and experiences. A celebration sponsored by Glop Gin -Biniarbolla- and Estrella Damm.”
4 Cadires has become a reference point for many Ciutadella locals, Menorcans, and visitors when it comes to unique experiences—from tastings and wine pairings to sunset parties and gatherings with friends. A project born during the pandemic, which, despite various challenges, has always moved forward. “And it’s all thanks to the incredible team that has been with us from day one, and the loyal 4 Cadires community. Thank you from the heart.”
“At the end of next month, on Saturday, September 27th, we will reopen the doors for good to begin a new season.”
