ACN/Barcelona - The owner of the Barcelona restaurant 7 Portes, Paco Solé Parellada (Barcelona, 1944), died this Thursday at the age of 81. During his career, the reference for Catalan cuisine was a prominent member of the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition and a professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Precisely, Industrial Engineers of Catalonia has remembered his role as a professor at the UPC for having “contributed to the training of several promotions”. Last year, the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy awarded him the National Traditional Gastronomy Award for his culinary contribution with the 7 Portes restaurant.
From the hand of the Catalan Government, he received the President Macià work medal in 2023. In this case, he was recognized for having created the Innova program at the UPC in 1998 and for having promoted the creation of the Science and Technology Park.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Òscar Ordeig, stated in a tweet to X that “his legacy will endure in our collective memory and in the kitchens of the country.”
