Torretrencadeta: a guided visit to the heart of Menorca’s most distinctive cheeses

For lovers of fine food and products with soul, the Torretrencadeta farm is a must-visit stop in Menorca. Located on the Camí Vell de Maó, just outside Ciutadella, this family-run farm offers guided tours that allow visitors to discover first-hand the cheesemaking process behind products that tell the gastronomic story of the island.

At Torretrencadeta, cheeses are made from Menorcan sheep’s milk, as well as truly unique cheeses in Menorca: those crafted from a blend of cow’s and sheep’s milk from native Menorcan breeds. These cheeses preserve the secret of ancient island recipes passed down through generations, resulting in deep, authentic flavours rooted in tradition and territory.

The guided tour provides insight into the facilities, the respect for animal welfare and the artisanal care devoted to each cheese. The experience naturally concludes with a tasting that delights even the most discerning palates.

Torretrencadeta cheeses are available daily at the farm itself, or at the Ferreries Market on Saturdays at midday, where their standout cheeses can be found: the mature sheep’s milk cheese, intense and refined, and the Madó Coloma cow’s milk cheese, renowned for its exceptional creaminess.

These cheeses are also marketed under the shared brand Meloussa de Sa Cooperativa del Camp de Menorca, reaffirming their commitment to local, high-quality produce.
