Foodies on Menorca
Visiting Torralba winery means discovering a project that goes far beyond winemaking. Located in the municipality of Ciutadella, this winery has become one of the leading references in Menorca’s wine scene, not only due to the size of its vineyards but also because of its clear commitment to strengthening the island’s entire wine sector.
Torralba was born out of a family’s love for Menorca and its land, with a collective and inclusive vision. As explained by the project team, the goal is not only to consolidate their own winery, but also to help place Menorca on the wine map and to foster a local wine culture that is recognised and appreciated by visitors. This philosophy is reflected in initiatives such as the recent inclusion of white and red garnacha varieties in the PGI Vi de la Terra – Illa de Menorca, an achievement that benefits the entire sector.
The Torralba estate is also strongly committed to sustainability and respect for the environment. The vineyards are dry-farmed, with independent vines, and coexist with donkeys, sheep and bees, creating a small ecosystem that supports the natural balance of the land.
As for the wines, the winery produces two distinct ranges. On the one hand, the Alba Menorca range, fresh and versatile; on the other, the prestige range, featuring more complex and gastronomic wines. A constantly evolving project that is also preparing the construction of the winery on the estate and the restoration of an old 17th-century house for wellness-related activities.
Visits to Torralba offer the chance to experience this philosophy first-hand, stroll through the vineyards and taste wines that tell the story of Menorca through its land.
