Foodies on Menorca
From 3 December through 28 January, with the aim of promoting and showcasing Menorcan gastronomy, the Menorcan Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafés launched the 12th edition of the gastronomic event “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou” (“Wednesdays are Brou Day”).
Since Wednesday 3 December, lovers of good food have been enjoying one of the island’s most traditional and emblematic recipes: Menorcan brou.
This dish, full of flavour and tradition, has its roots in Menorcan cuisine and is made with local ingredients such as “xenc” beef, hen, potatoes, chickpeas, tomatoes, onion and soup herbs.
Menorcan brou is served in two stages: first, a noodle soup made with the cooking broth; and then a second course featuring the potatoes, chickpeas and meat from the boiled stew. It is a hot, comforting dish, typical of the cold days of the Menorcan winter.
Participating restaurants offer the special “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou” menu, served in two courses:
First course: Noodle soup (broth from the Menorcan boiled stew)
Second course: Potatoes, chickpeas and meat from the Menorcan boiled stew
Water or a glass of wine
Bread and dessert
The menu price is €20, VAT included, and is the same in all establishments.
The event takes place on Wednesdays from 3 December 2025 through January 2026, specifically on 3, 10, 17 and 24 December, and 7, 14, 21 and 28 January.
A takeaway menu option is also available, allowing people to enjoy brou and the boiled stew at home.
This year, five restaurants specialising in local cuisine are taking part, each offering their own take on this traditional Menorcan dish:
Es Casino de Sant Climent (Sant Climent)
Mesón Rías Baixas (Ferreries)
Jaume II (Ciutadella)
Hotel Jeni & Restaurant (Es Mercadal)
Molí d’es Racó (Es Mercadal)
Through this initiative, the Menorcan Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafés reaffirms its commitment to promoting local gastronomy and boosting the hospitality sector during the winter months.
This event is supported by the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca and PIME Menorca.
