The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, presented today the 1st Tourism, Enogastronomy and Local Produce Conference, which will take place on 26 and 27 November at the Son Mir estate (Palma). Under the slogan “Connecting producers and tourism to savour the Balearic Islands”, this new initiative aims to strengthen the link between the tourism sector and local producers in order to promote a more authentic, sustainable and competitive enogastronomic offering.
During the presentation, the strategic importance of this initiative was highlighted. The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzà, stated that “local produce is a key tool to reinforce the identity of the Balearic Islands as a destination. Connecting producers and tourism companies allows us to move towards a more sustainable, diversified model that is coherent with who we are as a territory.” For his part, the Director-General of Agri-food Quality and Local Produce, Joan Llabrés, stressed that “this conference is a great opportunity to give visibility to the work of those who care for our land. The primary sector can contribute greatly to tourism, and tourism can be an important ally to create value and market our products.”
The conference will bring together producers, tourism companies, chefs, restaurateurs, cooperatives and organisations linked to the primary sector, creating a collaborative space that fosters synergies and expands the presence of local products in hotels, restaurants, agritourism establishments and other tourism businesses.
The programme will include presentations, round tables, practical workshops and a “speed dating” area designed to facilitate direct contact between producers and tourism establishments. The aim is to share tools, success stories and applicable experiences that help integrate local products effectively within the gastronomic value chain, enhancing the differentiation of the Balearic Islands as a destination.
This initiative is part of AETIB’s actions within the Balearic Islands’ Enogastronomy Plan, funded by the Next Generation funds, and reaffirms the Government’s commitment to high-quality tourism that is rooted in the territory and oriented towards long-term sustainability.
The conference is free of charge but requires prior registration (https://jornadaenogastro.illesbalears.travel/), with limited capacity to ensure a balance between producers, the tourism sector and HORECA. In addition, the organisation offers one free package per company (transport and accommodation) for participants travelling from Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
