Santa Catalina, a commitment to caring for Menorca’s countryside

Santa Catalina is a young winemaking project with a very clear philosophy: to respect, care for and ensure the continuity of Menorca’s countryside through sustainable production. The estate, located in Binidalí (Maó), is owned by Patrick and Jeanne François, who in 2016 decided to make their dream of producing wine and olive oil in Menorca a reality. The son of farmers in Normandy, Patrick has always maintained a strong connection to the land, despite having worked professionally as a lawyer.

The first vineyards were planted in 2018, and it was not until 2024 that Santa Catalina commercialised its first wines. Currently, the estate has twelve hectares of vineyards and a further two hectares dedicated to olive trees, with an approach clearly focused on sustainability: solar panels, efficient water management and a firm commitment to turning the vineyards into a 100% sustainable operation.

Santa Catalina’s wines, included within the IGP Vi de la Terra – Illa de Menorca, are structured into two ranges. On the one hand, the Sa Caterina range, made up of young, dry, low-alcohol wines (white, rosé and red). On the other hand, the Gran Clos range, more gastronomic and aged in oak barrels, which includes a white and a red with greater structure.

The project looks to the future with the ambition to grow and to reach international markets linked to Menorca, such as France, Germany or the United Kingdom. Soon, Santa Catalina will present a new 100% Malvasia skin-contact wine, a further step in the search for singular wines with personality.
