Sant Patrici, the revival of one of Menorca’s historic wineries

Sant Patrici is entering a new chapter that blends history, quality and a contemporary vision of Menorcan wine. Located in Ferreries, it is one of the island’s oldest wineries, with vineyards planted in 2000 that are now among the most mature in Menorca. After several changes of ownership and a temporary halt in production, the winemaking project has been relaunched with new leadership and a renewed strategy.

The winery was originally designed by Luis Casals, with Mercè Avellan as winemaker, who remains involved in this new phase. In 2021, the estate was acquired by a new group led by Ronan Lescop, who has overseen an extensive transformation of both the winery and the surrounding hotel facilities. Since October 2023, the project has been fully reactivated with the aim of redefining the wine style and aligning it with current market trends.

Sant Patrici now focuses primarily on white and rosé wines, while still producing small quantities of red wines. Vineyard work is carried out with great care and respect for the environment: no pesticides are used, harvesting is done by hand and sheep graze among the vines. Production remains deliberately limited, with a maximum of 13,000 to 15,000 bottles per year.

Beyond wine production, Sant Patrici offers a range of experiences that invite visitors to discover the estate in depth: guided tours of the winery and cheese dairy, wine and cheese tastings, gastronomic day passes and wellness activities such as yoga retreats.
