Presentation of the III Menorca De Vins Award to the oenologist Francesc Grimalt, a key figure in the recovery of the callet variety in Mallorca

Xesc Grimalt is one of the most renowned oenologists in Mallorca and a key figure in the recovery and promotion of the native Callet variety within the Balearic wine scene. After his time as a partner and technician at the Ànima Negra winery, he founded 4Kilos Vinícola in 2006 together with Sergio Caballero.

The project was born with a very clear philosophy: to produce honest, expressive wines closely linked to the territory, prioritising the vine-soil-climate-winemaker relationship over rigid rules. With a modest initial investment but a strong ambition for quality, 4Kilos has become a benchmark winery, recognised for its creativity, consistency and respect for the environment, as well as for a way of understanding wine as a cultural and landscape expression of Mallorca.

Xesc Grimalt received a wild olive wood sculpture in the shape of a bottle, jointly created by the Menorcan designer HombreLopez and the carpenter Bep Camps from Ciutadella.
