Maó to hold the 5th Mahón-Menorca Cheese Fair from 16 to 18 October

Maó will once again place Mahón-Menorca cheese at the heart of its gastronomic calendar with the 5th Fira del Formatge Mahón-Menorca, to be held from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2026 in Plaça de s’Esplanada.

This year marks the fifth edition of an event created to showcase one of the products that best represents Menorca’s gastronomy, agricultural landscape and food culture. The fair brings producers, cheesemakers and professionals connected with the sector together in one place.

For three days, s’Esplanada will become a major meeting point where visitors can discover and taste cheeses and learn more about the work behind each piece. Mahón-Menorca Protected Designation of Origin cheese will be the main attraction at an event that also helps bring livestock farming and cheesemaking closer to consumers.

In previous editions, the Fira del Formatge has incorporated tastings, guided tastings, live cooking demonstrations, workshops, family activities and musical events, turning the gathering into a celebration that goes beyond simply exhibiting and selling products. The detailed programme for the fifth edition will be announced ahead of the event.

An international dimension has also been part of the fair’s growth through Menorca’s links with the European Cheese Route, a network connecting European territories with strong cheesemaking traditions and helping to promote Menorcan products internationally.

At the same time, the event provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of the primary sector. Behind every cheese there is livestock farming, milk production, artisan or industrial cheesemaking, maturation and knowledge passed down through generations.

From 16 to 18 October, Maó will therefore once again become a meeting point for cheese lovers and an exceptional showcase for the diversity and quality of one of Menorca’s great gastronomic products.
