José María Borrás, aiming for the title of Best Young Chef in the World

The young Menorcan chef, José María Borrás, will take part these days in the final of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition in Milan, where on October 29 the new Best Young Chef in the World will be announced. Borrás, who was already proclaimed the best chef in Spain and Portugal in November 2024, will live these days in the Italian city the culmination of a competition for which he has spent a year preparing, under the guidance of the renowned Mallorcan chef Andreu Genestra, who has been his mentor. Borrás has also received the support of the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca.

José María Borrás’s proposal features a surf and turf with the flavours of “Balearic Lobster and Suckling Pig”, highlighting the finest products from Menorca and Mallorca. This dish already earned him victory in the Spain and Portugal competition and has now been further refined with the aim of achieving success and recognition in the grand finale, where he will compete alongside 14 other chefs under the contest’s theme, “Bring Your Future to the Table.”

The young culinary talent was recognised by the Consell Insular and the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca as a new ambassador of Menorca, European Region of Gastronomy 2022.
