Silve Pons/Ferreries - In a setting where few would expect a destination dining experience, JM’S Cafè Espai Gastronòmic stands as a refined and unexpected discovery. “Much more than an industrial-estate café” is not merely a tagline — it is a philosophy. At the helm are Xec Febrer and Cristina “Tina” Marín, two culinary spirits who have transformed an everyday venue into a meeting point for discerning palates and wine lovers.
Xec brings years of hospitality expertise, shaped in renowned establishments such as Ses Salines and Vimpi. His approach blends technical knowledge with a deep respect for produce. Tina, daughter of Aleja of the well-known Can’Aleja, carries gastronomy in her DNA. Together, they share a commitment to elevating local ingredients and celebrating wine culture in an approachable yet sophisticated setting.
The culinary vision is rooted in locality, seasonality and in-house preparation. There is no excess, only thoughtful execution and quiet elegance.
Mornings begin with traditional llonguets, Menorca’s iconic bread rolls, reimagined with finesse. They can be enjoyed simply or filled with combinations such as cured ham, brie and caramelised onion — a delicate balance of savoury depth and sweetness. The larder relies on fresh market produce and trusted local suppliers.
At lunchtime, “platillos” — refined small plates — take centre stage. Designed for sharing and pairing, they encourage lingering conversations and relaxed indulgence. Whether seated indoors or on the terrace, guests are invited to slow down and savour.
Desserts complete the experience: creamy cheesecakes, airy ensaïmadas and an indulgent pistachio brownie reflect a commitment to house-made pastry. Weekends bring a comforting ritual: thick hot chocolate with churros, transforming breakfast into a simple yet luxurious pleasure.
A defining feature of JM’S is its intimate wine corner. Among roughly twenty tables, this carefully curated selection invites exploration. Guests may choose a bottle to purchase or have it uncorked on the spot, creating a bespoke dining moment.
The cellar showcases multiple Spanish Denominations of Origin and grape varieties, including Albariño, Godello, Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc, Garnacha, Mencía, Cariñena and Cabernet Sauvignon. Menorcan wines hold pride of place, reinforcing a deep connection to the island’s terroir.
Connected to Jaume Mascaró’s store, the space is airy and adaptable, already hosting private gatherings and events. Plans for an outdoor chill-out area promise to make it an essential meeting point during the warmer months.
JM’S Cafè Espai Gastronòmic proves that contemporary luxury lies not in extravagance, but in authenticity, thoughtful curation and heartfelt hospitality.
