Hogar Canario Wins the Second Edition of the "Va de Tapas" Competition from Regional Homes in the Balearic Islands

Minister Estarellas today presented the prize for the competition, which is included in the May Fair of the Regional Homes, which is being held at Parque del Mar until tomorrow.

Hogar Canario Wins the Second Edition of the "Va de Tapas" Competition from Regional Homes in the Balearic Islands

The Hogar Canario Regional Home in the Balearic Islands has won the second edition of the "Va de Tapas" Competition from Regional Homes in the Balearic Islands, organized jointly by the Balearic Government, through the Ministry of the Presidency and Public Administrations, and the Federation of Regional Homes and Centers in the Balearic Islands. The winning tapa was presented as "Mojo Cheese with Wrinkled Potatoes and Mojo Picón Sauce." Councilor Antònia Maria Estarellas, accompanied by the president of the federation, Miguel Ángel Máñez, and the director general of Institutional Relations and with Parliament, Xesca Ramis, was responsible for presenting the award for this edition of the gastronomic competition, which is part of the 2025 May Fair of the Regional Houses of the Balearic Islands, which is taking place these days at Parque del Mar and will end tomorrow, Sunday. All the regional houses and centers received a diploma in recognition of their participation.

This year's fair featured a total of seven regional houses, which entered the competition by presenting three units of each tapa they designed. The houses represented in this edition were Falla del Toro – Casa de Valencia in Calvià, Casa Regional Valenciana in Mallorca, Casa Regional de Murcia in Mallorca, Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands, Euskal Etxea Artea Mallorca, Casa de Andalucía in the Balearic Islands, and the Galician Center of Mallorca.

The jury in charge of evaluating the tapas submitted to the competition and selecting the winning tapa was composed of Koldo Royo, chef and president of ASCAIB; José Cortés, chef of the Treurer restaurant and gastronomic advisor; and Rodrigo Vallejo, private chef and two-time winner of TaPalma 2017. The award ceremony was hosted by Manu Blanco.

Before the award ceremony, Regional Minister Antònia Estarellas and General Director Xesca Ramis visited the regional restaurants present at the fair. Regional Minister Estarellas congratulated the seven regional restaurants for their involvement in the competition and for their excellent taste in preparing each tapa. She also congratulated Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands for winning first prize.

In addition to the gastronomic offering, the fair featured a varied agenda of cultural activities. Thus, today, Saturday, the audience was able to enjoy performances by the group Xeremiers de l’Estació and Maria Bimbolles in the morning, and by the Agrupació de Ball Mallorquí Sa Sínia de Consell and the pop-rock group Cara B in the afternoon. Tomorrow, Sunday morning, performances by storyteller Joan de sa Maleta, Soniando. Aragonese Folklore School, and the Parranda del Hogar Canario in the Balearic Islands are scheduled.
