Cocas: the most authentic taste of summer

Tomorrow, the Casino 17 de Gener will host a new edition of the Sweet and Savoury Coca Contest, an event that celebrates one of the most authentic treasures of our gastronomy. Cocas, in all their forms —sweet, savoury, puff pastry or “bambas”— have been the go-to summer snack in Menorcan homes for centuries.

From the most traditional ones with sobrasada or vegetables, to almost forgotten recipes, the coca is much more than a bite: it’s culture, identity, and local economy. Bringing them back means supporting local products, farmers, and keeping our culinary heritage alive.

Less pizza, more cocas: that’s how we preserve the true taste of Menorca.
