Bep Al·lès/Ciutadella -  The young Menorcan chef José María Borrás continues to accumulate awards and distinctions. Borrás, who serves as ambassador of Menorca European Region of Gastronomy 2022, has been included in the list of the 100 most relevant culinary professionals under the age of 30 worldwide, compiled by the Basque Culinary Center.

Currently the head chef of Aquíara, the restaurant located at the Morvedra Nou Hotel in Menorca, Borrás is demonstrating remarkable personal and professional growth through proposals that showcase Menorcan products and promote them internationally at culinary demonstrations and competitions.

Chef José María Borrás among the 100 Young Talents in Gastronomy

The young Menorcan talent was already a finalist for the World’s Best Young Chef Award 2025, after winning the Spain and Portugal competition in 2024. Among other achievements, he was a finalist for the Revelation Chef Award at Madrid Fusión this past January, confirming his status as one of the most prominent names in Spain’s gastronomic scene.

His potential, determination, creativity, respect for Menorcan products, and reinterpretation of Menorcan gastronomy, among other merits, led to his appointment in 2025 as ambassador of Menorca European Region of Gastronomy.
