Bep Al·lès/Sóller - The restaurant Béns d’Avall, located in Sóller, will bring its current chapter to an end as of March 1. The decision concludes more than half a century of gastronomic history in Mallorca and opens a period of transformation that will culminate in a new project scheduled for 2027.
Founded in 1971 by Benet Vicens, the restaurant has become one of the key establishments in the consolidation of contemporary haute cuisine in the Balearic Islands. Its privileged location on the coast of the Serra de Tramuntana, with the landscape fully integrated into the dining experience, has long been one of the defining features of a house that has built its narrative around territory and identity.
In recent years, the kitchen has been led by his son, Jaume Vicens, representing the generational continuity of the family project. This natural evolution has preserved the essence of the house while incorporating a more contemporary perspective, aligned with new gastronomic sensibilities.
The closure of the current stage is not seen as a definitive farewell, but as a strategic decision aimed at redefining the project. Fine dining is undergoing profound transformation, with shifts in formats, service dynamics and the way culinary experiences are conceived. In this context, Béns d’Avall has chosen to pause in order to rethink its future.
For more than fifty years, the restaurant has been far more than a dining establishment: it has been a benchmark within the Balearic culinary landscape. Its early commitment to cuisine rooted in local produce and landscape helped position Mallorca within the narrative of modern Mediterranean gastronomy.
The new project announced for 2027 will preserve the values and identity built over decades, while introducing a renewed proposal both in the kitchen and in the dining room. The coming months will reveal further details of this new chapter.
Béns d’Avall is not lowering the curtain; it is preparing to write a new story. In a sector where the ability to reinvent oneself is essential, the house in Sóller is betting on transformation as a guarantee of continuity.
