Alcaidús cave-aged cheese wins the 2026 Foods of Spain Award for Best Matured Cow’s Milk Cheese

Alcaidús cave-aged cheese, produced in Menorca, has been distinguished with the 2026 Foods of Spain Best Cheeses Award in the Matured Cow’s Milk Cheese category, a distinction granted by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The award recognises the excellence and quality of this Menorcan cheese, which prevailed in a competition featuring 133 cheese samples from across Spain.

Alcaidús has expressed its satisfaction with an award that represents further recognition of the work it carries out in producing its cheeses. The award-winning product is a cave-aged cow’s milk cheese, a distinctive creation that forms part of the Menorcan cheesemaker’s range.

The distinction once again places a cheese produced in Menorca among the outstanding products on Spain’s cheese scene and helps strengthen the profile of the island’s cheese production, one of the most representative sectors of its agri-food culture.

The Foods of Spain Awards are presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in recognition of products and professionals that stand out for their quality.

For Alcaidús, winning the Matured Cow’s Milk Cheese category from among 133 samples represents an important distinction and an endorsement of the quality of its cave-aged cheese.
