Foodies on Menorca
Menorca offers the perfect excuse for a delicious winter getaway on the first weekend of February. On February 7th and 8th, 2026, the town of Es Mercadal will welcome the 39th edition of the Fira de sa Perdiu, a must for travellers who want to experience the island through its cuisine, local traditions and lively off-season atmosphere.
The Recinte Firal des Mercadal will once again become a meeting point for locals, families and visitors looking for an authentic rural Menorcan experience, closely tied to local products and heritage. Although some of the traditional hunting activities cannot take place this year due to avian flu restrictions, the fair will keep its spirit alive with a full programme for all audiences.
The weekend begins on Saturday with a sporting Compak Sporting shoot, but Sunday is when the fair truly comes alive. From 10 am onwards, visitors can explore a market of traditional products, enjoy demonstrations linked to Menorca’s countryside culture, and discover exhibitions of both historic and modern items.
One of the highlights for food lovers will be the live cooking show featuring game recipes, led by chef Dimas Roldan — a perfect opportunity to taste and learn about Menorca’s culinary roots.
Among the most anticipated moments is the popular paella, prepared on site by Miquel Àngel Carreras. Tickets will be available the same day before 1 pm, and the shared lunch at 2 pm promises a true celebration of flavour and community.
The day also includes activities such as traditional slingshot shooting, archery, pony rides, children’s games and art exhibitions, creating a welcoming atmosphere for families and friends.
For gourmet travellers, the experience continues beyond the fairgrounds. Several restaurants across the island will take part in the Sa Perdiu Gastronomic Days, held on February 8th and 9th, offering special dishes inspired by this local culinary tradition.
Participating venues include Ca na Pilar (Migjorn), Mesón Rías Baixas (Ferreries), Molí des Racó (Es Mercadal) and Hotel Jeni Restaurante (Es Mercadal).
The Fira de sa Perdiu is a wonderful way to enjoy Menorca out of season, when the island feels calm, genuine and deeply authentic. A perfect weekend to stroll through Es Mercadal, taste local cuisine, explore traditions and embrace the charm of a fair that blends culture, food and Menorcan hospitality.
