The port of Ciutadella in the 70s

Photograph from our archive from the late 70s or early 80s of the port of Ciutadella, where we can see the terrace of the remembered “Can Manolo”, the restaurant of Manolo Plens Guiu, which was a reference in the seafood gastronomy of Menorca and where the royal family, among others, would eat during their stay in Ciutadella. We can also see when it was allowed to have tables, chairs and awnings by the sea, which gave a more seafaring and authentic image to our port, in addition to making it more attractive to tourists and the residents themselves.

The first remodeling of the spaces carried out in the 90s greatly damaged the image of the port, which lost part of its charm with areas delimited by bollards.

These are all points of view, which may be good for some and not so good or bad for others.
