The Island Council strengthens its support for the wine sector with a new agreement with the Vi Menorca Association

The Island Council of Menorca has approved a new collaboration agreement with the Vi Menorca Association for 2025, with a maximum financial allocation of 12,000 euros. This aid aims to support dissemination, promotion and training campaigns within the island’s wine sector, considered an emblematic and strategic agri-food product for Menorca’s economy.

This subsidy will help finance several key actions to enhance the visibility and marketing of the product, such as:

– Participation in wine fairs and competitions, both in Menorca and at national level.
– Promotional and advertising activities in the media and the updating of the digital communication strategy.
– Specialised training for producers and sector clients.

“This agreement has a direct economic and social impact on the island. On the one hand, it allows agricultural activity to diversify and strengthens the productive fabric. On the other, it consolidates Menorcan wine as an essential complement to the local gastronomic offer and as a cultural and tourist asset that reinforces Menorca’s image as a quality destination,” explains the Councillor for Economy and General Services, Maria Antònia Taltavull.

The Vi Menorca Association has played a key role in the regulatory consolidation of wine on the island, achieving the approval of the Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca designation (2005) and later the Protected Geographical Indication (2013).

The Island Council thus strengthens its commitment to the primary sector and to the promotion of high-quality local products, supporting initiatives that boost sustainability, identity and Menorca’s international projection. With this agreement, institutional support is consolidated for a sector that combines tradition and innovation, contributing decisively to the island’s economic, cultural and tourism development.
