San Crispín to take over management of Ca Na Paqui shop in Alaior to ensure its continuity

The San Crispín Cooperative will take over the management of the Ca Na Paqui grocery shop, located in Plaça Nova in Alaior, this coming May, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of this small local establishment following the retirement of its current owner, Francisca Melià.

The agreement will prevent the closure of a neighbourhood shop that has served local residents for years and which is currently the only nearby food outlet for part of this residential area. The premises, approximately 50 square metres in size, will become part of the cooperative’s network of retail outlets, strengthening San Crispín’s presence in the municipality and consolidating its local, territory-based retail model. This operation will also create a new job, maintaining the same spirit of customer service.

In the coming weeks, work will be carried out to adapt the premises and define the initial product range so that the new outlet can begin operating in May. This initiative reflects San Crispín’s commitment to preserving a traditional village business and maintaining an essential service for residents in this area of Alaior, who would otherwise be left without a nearby food shop. “From the Board of Directors, we believed it was necessary to take this step forward as a way of demonstrating the social commitment that San Crispín has had since its beginnings with its members and customers,” explains Belly Esther, president of the cooperative. In this same spirit, just a year ago the cooperative restored fishmonger services at its Es Migjorn shop after the last fish shop in the municipality closed.

Five operating outlets

With this addition, San Crispín will have five points of sale in Menorca: three in Alaior (the main supermarket in the industrial estate, the shop on Carrer Ramal, and the new shop in Plaça Nova), a fourth in Es Migjorn, and a fifth through its online shopping platform serving the whole island.
