Foodies on Menorca
In the old harbour of Ciutadella — where Menorca’s nights have long moved to the rhythm of Jazzbah — there is a venue that has evolved beyond being simply the gastronomic extension of a legendary music club. La Bodega del Jazzbah now stands as a destination in its own right.
Reopening this Friday, the restaurant returns with a clear ambition: to captivate discerning food-loving travellers seeking more than just another waterfront terrace. Here, atmosphere matters as much as flavour. There is storytelling, carefully sourced produce and a culinary identity that deliberately avoids the predictable tourist clichés often associated with Mediterranean harbours.
And that is precisely its greatest strength.
In a setting dominated by conventional seafood menus and postcard aesthetics, La Bodega del Jazzbah offers a more contemporary market-driven cuisine built around refined tapas and sharing plates, blending cosmopolitan flair with authentic Menorcan character.
The project was born from the universe of Jazzbah — one of Menorca’s most iconic nightlife institutions — and still retains the venue’s effortlessly cool, slightly bohemian and sophisticated personality. Owners Juli Rabal and Francesc Martín reinvented the space during the pandemic years, transforming an adjoining venue into a gastronomic bodega with a distinct identity of its own.
The menu is concise yet carefully curated for modern foodies: oysters served natural or Bloody Mary-style, red tuna croquettes with wasabi, bone marrow topped with red prawn tartare, Menorcan beef tataki, squid over ink-infused couscous and black tempura cod. The culinary philosophy balances premium ingredients, contemporary technique and elegant presentation.
Among the dishes already gaining cult status with regular guests are the tuna tartare with guacamole, the red tuna croquettes, the semi-set cheesecake and the daily off-menu specials based on fresh market produce.
The ideal moment to experience the essence of the place comes just before sunset. Golden light washes over the harbour façades, chilled white wine appears on every table and the soundtrack seems to emerge naturally from the atmosphere itself.
Some restaurants are places to have dinner.
La Bodega del Jazzbah is where you go to experience a contemporary Menorcan night.
