The Government of the Balearic Islands has approved the call and selection rules for participants in the Balearic Islands Day 2027 market, an event that will once again turn Palma into a major showcase for the archipelago’s crafts, local products, culture and traditions.
The call, published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB), establishes an application period that opened on 2 September and will remain open until 22 September 2026.
The market will form part of the Balearic Islands Day celebrations, which will take place on 26, 27 and 28 February and 1 March 2027. During these days, Palma will once again bring together producers, artisans and food makers in an event designed to highlight the gastronomic, artisanal and cultural diversity of each of the islands.
The call is aimed at four categories of participants. Category A is for artisans from the Balearic Islands holding an official artisan accreditation; category B is for Balearic artisans without this accreditation; category C is intended for non-artisan vendors from the Balearic Islands, while category D allows the participation of accredited artisans from other regions of Spain or the European Union.
Food and agricultural products will once again be one of the market’s main attractions, alongside traditional and artisan products representative of the Balearic Islands. The event aims to provide a promotional platform for producers and artisans, while also offering visitors an opportunity to discover products, crafts, flavours and knowledge closely linked to the territory.
The market will maintain the aesthetic and philosophy of the last three editions of Balearic Islands Day, following the change of model promoted by the Government to give greater prominence to crafts, culture, traditions and local products from across the archipelago.
This approach helps consolidate the celebration as a meeting place and a platform for promoting the identity of the Islands, with particular emphasis on cultural heritage and on the products that express the gastronomic and artisanal character of each island territory.
The aims of the call include highlighting the value of the products, traditions and knowledge characteristic of each island, encouraging the display and sale of local artisan products, providing local artisans with a platform to showcase their work and promoting cultural and commercial exchange.
Although Balearic products will take centre stage, the call also allows participation by producers from other regions of Spain, Europe, other Mediterranean islands and other parts of the world.
Those interested in taking part must submit their applications using the forms available through the Electronic Office and the website of the Directorate-General for Institutional Relations and Relations with Parliament. Applications must be addressed to the same Directorate-General in accordance with Article 16 of Law 39/2015.
Participation in the market will be completely free of charge, as it was in the previous edition.
