The Casino 17 de Gener Cocas Contest celebrates one of Menorca's sweetest culinary traditions

Traditional gastronomy will once again take centre stage during the Sant Cristòfol celebrations with the 9th Cocas Contest, an event that brings together tradition, creativity and community around one of Menorca's best-loved homemade specialities. The competition will take place on 11 July at Casino 17 de Gener, becoming one of the island's most engaging food events of the summer.

For generations, local families have celebrated Sant Cristòfol by enjoying cocas by the seaside. Today, this tradition remains alive and the contest helps preserve an important part of Menorca's culinary heritage while highlighting homemade recipes passed down through the years.

The competition welcomes both experienced bakers and enthusiastic home cooks. Sweet and savoury cocas will be presented between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm, before a jury evaluates quality, presentation, originality and flavour.

For travellers exploring Menorca, the event offers much more than a tasting. It provides an authentic opportunity to experience local traditions, meet residents and discover one of the island's most cherished gastronomic customs in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
