Foodies on Menorca
Foodies on Menorca, a publication of Grup Setmanaris i Revistes SL, is strengthening its commitment to Menorcan society. Alongside its work promoting and showcasing gastronomy, locally sourced products and the island’s establishments, it also supports grassroots sport as one of the sponsors of the Acadèmia de Gegants.
This collaboration is clearly visible on the new warm-up shirts worn by nearly 600 players from towns across Menorca who take part in activities organised by the Acadèmia. The Foodies on Menorca logo therefore accompanies the athletes during matches and training sessions, as well as in many other everyday activities, including excursions, local festivities and gatherings around town.
The Acadèmia de Gegants particularly highlights the high visibility of these shirts, which have become a familiar item of clothing for participants well beyond the sports courts. “These are the warm-up shirts worn by 600 players from all over Menorca, providing visibility wherever they go: matches, training sessions, excursions, local festivities, out and about in the streets, etc.,” explain the organisation’s representatives, who have expressed their gratitude for the involvement of all the sponsors, including Foodies on Menorca.
For Foodies on Menorca, this collaboration is a way of giving something back to society in return for the support it has received over the years. The magazine and its digital platform have the primary aim of showcasing Menorca’s gastronomic wealth, championing local produce and helping to promote restaurants, producers, artisans, food-related businesses and local shops. This commitment to the island, however, also means taking part in social, cultural and sporting initiatives that encourage community spirit and healthy lifestyles.
The Acadèmia de Gegants plays an important role in promoting sport and social engagement, particularly among children and young people. Its activities provide opportunities to practise sport in a friendly, inclusive and participatory environment, where competition goes hand in hand with values such as teamwork, effort, equality and respect.
One of the upcoming events will take place on Friday, 7 August, at the Calós courtyard, where the finals of the s’Alpargata basketball competition will be held. The women’s final will begin at 7.30 pm, while the men’s final is scheduled for 9.00 pm. It will be another opportunity to bring together players, families and supporters around a competition firmly rooted in Ciutadella’s grassroots sporting tradition.
Through this sponsorship, Foodies on Menorca continues to strengthen its ties with Menorca, not only as a platform for promoting gastronomy but also as a media outlet committed to initiatives that foster community, participation and vibrant local life across the island.
