Fira Arrels: an essential taste of Menorca

On 19 and 20 September, the Es Mercadal Exhibition Centre will once again become the main showcase for Menorcan gastronomy with the ninth edition of Fira Arrels. The event is highly recommended for foodie travellers wishing to discover, taste and purchase island-made products directly from local producers.

Throughout the weekend, the fair will bring together a broad representation of Menorca’s agri-food sector. Cheese, traditional cured meats, wines, liqueurs, olive oils, honey, seasonal vegetables and many other local specialities will fill the venue, providing visitors with an excellent overview of the island’s culinary wealth.

Capers will take centre stage at this year’s edition. This emblematic ingredient of Menorcan cuisine will feature in some of the products on display and in the live cooking demonstrations. These culinary sessions will once again form a central part of the programme, with chefs from Menorca and the Balearic Islands preparing creative recipes using ingredients supplied by the exhibitors.

The programme will also feature live music, children’s activities and events recognising the work of the island’s agri-food and artisan sectors.
