The traditional Menorcan dish once again becomes the star of winter Wednesdays

“Els Dimecres és dia de Brou” gastronomic days kick off

With the aim of promoting and highlighting Menorcan cuisine, the Menorcan Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafeterias is launching the 12th edition of the gastronomic days “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou”. From Wednesday 3 December onwards, lovers of good food will be able to enjoy one of the island’s most traditional and emblematic recipes: Brou Menorquí, also known as cuit menorquí, the Menorcan stew.

This dish, full of flavour and tradition, has its roots in Menorcan home cooking and is prepared with local ingredients such as “xenc” beef, hen, potatoes, chickpeas, tomato, onion and soup herbs. The Menorcan brou is served in two courses: first, a noodle soup made with the cooking stock; and then a second course with the potatoes, chickpeas and boiled meat. It is a hot and comforting dish, ideal for the cold days of Menorcan winter.

The participating restaurants will offer the special menu “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou”, consisting of:

The gastronomic days will take place on Wednesdays in December 2025 and January 2025, specifically on 3, 10, 17 and 24 December, and 7, 14, 21 and 28 January.

The takeaway menu option is also available, allowing you to enjoy the brou at home.

This year, five restaurants specialising in local cuisine are taking part, each offering its own interpretation of this traditional Menorcan dish:

  • Es Casino de Sant Climent (Sant Climent)

  • Mesón Rías Baixas (Ferreries)

  • Jaume II (Ciutadella)

  • Hotel Jeni & Restaurant (Es Mercadal)

  • Molí d’es Racó (Es Mercadal)

With this initiative, the Menorcan Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafeterias reaffirms its commitment to promoting local gastronomy and boosting the restaurant sector during the winter months.

This event is organised with the collaboration of the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca and PIME Menorca.
