Vermut Jazz with film and live music takes centre stage at the Menorca Jazz Festival in Ciutadella

The Menorca Jazz Festival continues to fill the island’s cultural agenda with proposals that combine music and other artistic disciplines. This Sunday, April 12, the festival presents a new edition of its “Vermut Jazz” format, taking place at 11:00 am at the Moix Negre Cinemas in Ciutadella.

The event will begin with the screening of the documentary “A Film About Kids and Music. Sant Andreu Jazz Band”, directed by Ramon Tort. The film offers an insight into the educational and creative process of one of the most renowned youth jazz ensembles.

After the screening, the audience will enjoy a live concert by FR Project, featuring Federico Rocha on piano and compositions, Nicolás Castillo on drums, Raúl Moya on bass and Austin Bassarath on alto saxophone.

This morning event blends audiovisual storytelling with live music in a relaxed atmosphere, true to the spirit of “vermut jazz”, and forms part of the festival’s Spring 2026 programme. Tickets are priced at 9 euros.

A Film About Kids and Music is an emotional and inspiring look at the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, a unique educational project that has transformed a neighbourhood school into an international jazz reference. Under the passionate direction of Joan Chamorro, children and young people aged 6 to 18 grow musically through classic jazz, collective effort and the joy of playing together. The documentary reveals a distinctive and moving teaching method, where talent, discipline and enthusiasm take shape on stage.

The screening will be attended by the director and will conclude with a final concert that extends the emotion from the screen to the live performance.
