The Salinas de la Concepción open their doors for the 2026 season on April 1st

The Salinas de la Concepción - Sal de Menorca will reopen to the public on April 1st, launching their third season of visits and consolidating their position as one of the most unique experiences for discovering Menorca’s natural and mining heritage.

Located at the end of the Bay of Fornells, the salt flats offer an experience that combines tradition, landscape, and biodiversity. During the visit, guests can learn firsthand about the artisanal process of harvesting fleur de sel and virgin sea salt from the island, while exploring an area of great ecological value where birds such as flamingos and waders typical of wetlands are a regular part of the scenery.

As a new feature this season, guided tours will be available in Catalan, Spanish, English, and French, thus expanding access for international visitors. Small group sizes will also be maintained in order to preserve the quality of the experience and ensure respect for the natural environment.

Looking ahead to summer, the Salinas de la Concepción will also host a unique cultural proposal: an exhibition of 20 exclusive photographs by renowned photographer Steve McCurry, taken at the salt flats during his visit to Menorca last year. This exhibition, to be presented soon, will strengthen the link between the natural space and contemporary artistic creation.

With this new season, the Salinas de la Concepción continue to promote a visitor model that highlights both the traditional salt-making craft and the protected natural environment where it takes place.

Sal de Menorca is the driving project behind the restoration of the Salinas de la Concepción and is currently responsible for the artisanal production of fleur de sel and virgin sea salt on the island. The project aims to preserve the traditional salt-making craft, conserve this unique natural space, and promote a local product closely linked to the landscape, history, and culture of Menorca.
