Foodies on Menorca
Foodie travellers looking to complement their gastronomic discovery of Menorca with a cultural experience rooted in Mediterranean music have an appointment on Thursday, 20 August, at 8.30 pm, at the Pedreres de s’Hostal. As part of Fosquets Líthica, Corsican group Tempvs Fvgit will present Da Caminu, a programme devoted to the power and depth of Corsica’s polyphonic singing tradition.
Featuring Patrick Vignoli, Eric Natali, Didier Cuenca and Gérard Rossi, Tempvs Fvgit draws on one of the most distinctive vocal traditions of Corsican culture. Their voices intertwine to create an intense collective sound closely connected to memory, landscape and an ancestral way of transmitting stories and emotions through song.
In Menorca, this Mediterranean polyphony will find an especially evocative setting among Líthica’s monumental sandstone walls. The natural acoustics of the former quarries and the fading evening light promise to add another dimension to music rooted in oral and communal tradition.
For foodie travellers, Da Caminu can become part of a complete Menorcan evening: explore Ciutadella, enjoy an early dinner or a tasting of local products and then travel musically to Corsica without leaving the island. It is a cultural experience connecting two Mediterranean islands through landscape, memory and tradition.
