Radio Far celebrates 15 years of Grahame Pearce with a night of rock, beer and local atmosphere in Es Mercadal

Foodies visiting Menorca these days have a different kind of proposal this Friday to complete their gastronomic route around the island: the 7th Festival Maquetes, which will take place on 26 June at 10.30 p.m. at the Es Mercadal Fairgrounds, with free admission.

The event, organised by Ràdio Far, will also serve this year to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Grahame Pearce, a brand closely linked to Menorca’s festive and cultural scene. It is an ideal occasion to combine live music, beer and social gathering in a popular, relaxed setting, perfect for visitors who want to discover the most authentic side of Menorca, beyond restaurants and beaches.

The musical protagonist of the night will be Espina, one of the strongest and most distinctive bands in Menorcan rock in recent years. Formed at the end of 2008, the band will offer a live performance full of energy, heavy metal, humour and protest lyrics, with influences ranging from Pearl Jam to the Rolling Stones.

The festival, dedicated to local musicians and bands, stems from Ràdio Far’s Maquetes podcast, which recovers the memory of Menorcan groups that have left their mark on the island’s musical history.

There will be a bar service, and the concert can be followed live at radiofarmenorca.com.

The origin of the festival

Festival Maquetes was born as an extension of Ràdio Far’s Maquetes podcast, presented by musician Pedro Sánchez Tuomala, who interviews groups and musicians from Menorca who have recorded a demo or album and who, although no longer active, have left their mark on the island’s musical history.
