Local Produce Vouchers generate more than €1 million in sales at the campaign’s halfway point

The Local Produce Voucher campaign, promoted by the Balearic Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, has generated more than €1 million in sales while still only halfway through its scheduled duration. So far, 49,786 vouchers have been redeemed, representing 55% of those issued, and have been used in 12,267 purchases with a total value of €1,074,344.25.

The figures represent a significant increase compared with the previous edition. At this stage of the campaign, twice as many vouchers have already been redeemed as during the same period last year. This growth coincides with a considerable expansion of the initiative, both in the number of participating retailers and producers and in the volume of discounts made available to consumers.

After many participating businesses used up their initial allocation during the first few days, the Ministry carried out a new distribution. As a result, all registered operators once again have active vouchers available. The campaign will remain open until 7 August.

The Balearic Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, said the Local Produce Vouchers had become an effective tool for bringing consumers closer to producers and encouraging direct purchases.

“This initiative not only helps farming businesses increase their sales, but also strengthens the relationship between producers and consumers, enhances the value of locally sourced produce and contributes to supporting our primary sector,” Simonet said.

The figures were presented at the Menorca Agricultural and Livestock Cooperative, Sa Cooperativa del Camp, one of the 139 businesses taking part in the campaign. Its manager, Tònia Bosch, explained that the vouchers initially allocated to the cooperative were used up in just two days, which is why the organisation had been eagerly awaiting the additional allocation.

Bosch stressed that the campaign helps raise awareness of local products, increase sales and encourage more consumers to buy directly from producers.

This year’s edition includes 139 participating businesses, 39 more than in 2025, and 120 producers from across the Balearic Islands, 33 more than last year. The campaign has a budget of €909,250 and has made 90,925 vouchers worth €10 each available to consumers.

Shoppers receive a €10 discount for every minimum purchase of €20 made at participating businesses.

The initiative forms part of Decree Law 1/2026 of 1 April, which introduced urgent and extraordinary measures to address the international economic impact of the war in the Middle East. Its aim is to strengthen domestic demand for local produce, promote direct sales and provide support to the Balearic Islands’ primary sector.

The full list of participating producers and businesses is available on the campaign’s official website.
