La Venidera brings a bold new vision of flamenco and Spanish dance to the Teatre des Born

Foodie travellers wishing to complement their stay in Menorca with a contemporary cultural experience have an appointment on Wednesday, 5 August, at 9.00 pm, at Ciutadella’s Teatre des Born. La Venidera will present NO, a production that questions the boundaries of tradition and uses negation as a starting point for transformation, research and artistic creation.

Following their time with the Spanish National Ballet, Irene Tena and Albert Hernández have developed a fresh perspective on Spanish dance and flamenco. In NO, they revisit these traditions through a contemporary, physical and deeply personal language, combining inherited forms with risk and theatrical innovation.

The work begins with the apparently simple act of saying “no”: rejecting what has been learnt in order to question it again, open new paths and imagine different forms of movement, memory and stage presence. Doubt becomes not an obstacle, but a creative force.

La Venidera received Spain’s El Ojo Crítico Dance Award in 2025, while NO was among the most nominated dance productions at the 2026 Max Awards.

For foodie visitors, the performance can form part of a complete Ciutadella evening: a walk through the historic centre, an early dinner at a local restaurant and contemporary dance in one of the town’s leading cultural venues. Tickets are available from the theatre box office and its official website.
