Jaume Gomila presents Foodies on Menorca with the diploma accrediting it as one of the Top Foodie Websites 2026

FoodiesonMenorca/Es Mercadal - Menorcan Jaume Gomila, Vice-President of the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT), has presented Bep Al·lès, editor and director of Foodies on Menorca, with the diploma accrediting the Menorcan gastronomic platform as one of the Top Foodie Websites 2026, an international distinction that places the project among the ten leading websites worldwide for travellers seeking experiences linked to gastronomy, culture and the territory.

The recognition had been announced on 19 March at a gala held in Opatija, Croatia, hosted by Kvarner, European Region of Gastronomy 2026. Foodies on Menorca was selected alongside other platforms from around the world by an international jury of IGCAT experts.

The Top Foodie Websites distinction aims to identify and give international visibility to digital platforms capable of bringing unique gastronomic experiences closer to travellers while, at the same time, helping to preserve and promote the culinary identity of their territories. Among the aspects assessed are the usability of the website, international and linguistic accessibility, sustainability, connection with the territory, the creativity and uniqueness of the proposals, and the quality of the information provided about gastronomic experiences.

In this context, Foodies on Menorca has been recognised for its work in promoting Menorcan gastronomy and for giving visibility to the restaurants, producers, food makers, wineries, artisans and products that make up the island’s gastronomic landscape. The platform, directed by Bep Al·lès and published by Grup Setmanaris i Revistes SL, features a website design developed by the Menorcan company Infotelecom.

The award takes on special significance because it places Menorca within a worldwide selection of gastronomic destinations and initiatives. The 2026 list includes, among others, platforms from Saimaa, Aseer, Catalonia, Crete and Manabí, territories that are also part of the international network of World and European Regions of Gastronomy.

IGCAT highlights that these platforms help international visitors gain access to high-quality gastronomic and cultural experiences, while also giving visibility to local-scale initiatives, supporting small producers and encouraging sustainable territorial development models. The distinguished websites also benefit from international promotion through IGCAT’s official channels.

The presentation of the diploma by Jaume Gomila to Bep Al·lès now gives tangible form to a recognition announced six months ago in Kvarner and consolidates the trajectory of Foodies on Menorca as an international showcase for Menorcan gastronomic culture. A project born in Menorca that, through its commitment to local produce, restaurants, culinary tradition and new gastronomic experiences, succeeds in positioning the island before a global community of travellers for whom gastronomy is one of the main motivations for discovering a territory.
