Cabra brings the traditional sounds of the Iberian Peninsula to the Pedreres de s’Hostal

Foodie travellers looking to complement their stay in Menorca with a distinctive cultural experience have an appointment on Thursday, 6 August, at 8.30 pm, at the Pedreres de s’Hostal. Cabra will present its exploration of Iberian folk and traditional music as part of the Fosquets Líthica programme.

The project traces a musical triangle connecting the Valencian Mediterranean, La Mancha and Extremadura. Its members draw on extensive experience in traditional, early and contemporary music, combining research with new creative approaches.

Since 2020, the group has studied songbooks, anthologies and field recordings, guided by the idea that creation itself is the mother of tradition. In Ciutadella, Cabra will perform as a six-piece ensemble, presenting material from Volum 1 and the new Volum 2.

Hurdy-gurdies, lutes, bagpipes, traditional shawms, flutes, harp and percussion will be joined by tambourines, small guitars and even kitchen utensils, creating the rural and organic sound that defines the project.

For foodie visitors, the concert offers an appealing way to combine Ciutadella’s historic centre and local gastronomy with an evening of music in one of Menorca’s most extraordinary heritage settings.
