AquaSonic, underwater music to complete a gastronomic and cultural getaway in Menorca

Bep Al·lès/Cala Morell - Menorca invites visitors to discover the island beyond the dining table. During the summer, its gastronomic offering is complemented by a cultural programme that turns each day into a more complete experience. One of this year’s most unusual proposals is AquaSonic, a performance by the Danish company Between Music, taking place on 24 and 25 July at 10 pm in Cala Morell, as part of the Pedra Viva festival.

Five musicians will perform a composition from inside large transparent tanks filled with water. To make this possible, they will use underwater instruments and vocal techniques developed specifically for this environment.

Breathing, vibrations, body movement and the resistance of the water all become part of a staging that combines music, lighting and imagery. Water is no longer merely the setting, but an active element in the creation of sound, forming part of an immersive visual experience that explores the profound relationship between human beings and this vital resource.

The setting of Cala Morell will further enhance the poetic nature of the performance. Its rocky landscape and Mediterranean horizon provide a particularly evocative backdrop, making AquaSonic an ideal way to complete a day devoted to Menorcan cuisine, a visit to Ciutadella or a route along the island’s coastline.
