Anna Ferrer presents PA, her new musical and performative project, this Thursday at the Teatre Principal in Maó

The singer from Maó premieres her new project on the island, accompanied by her father, two musicians, six backing vocalists, and a repertoire that combines orality, popular imagery, research, and artistic experimentation.

Following the success of Parenòstic (2021), the acclaimed Menorcan singer and composer Anna Ferrer (Maó, 1993) returns to the stage of the Teatre Principal in Maó to present her new musical project: PA (La Castanya, 2026). The performance will take place next Thursday, April 9 (8:30 p.m.), accompanied by her father, two musicians, a choir —made up of six singers— and a repertoire that blends orality, popular imagination, research, and artistic experimentation.

This is a co-production between the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa (where the project premiered last October), La Marfà – Centre for Music Creation, and the Auditori de Barcelona.

Tickets, almost sold out, are still available at the theatre box office and online at www.teatremao.com.

A journey between tradition and transformation

Daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, and great-great-granddaughter of bakers, Anna Ferrer grew up surrounded by sacks of flour, egg cartons, and kneading machines. After deeply processing this heritage, she decides to break with the family baking tradition and devote herself to singing, doing with music what her family has done for so many years with bread.

PA is a musical and performative proposal that combines music, movement, and dough manipulated live on stage, born from the need to ritualize this transfer of trade. Bread is present as a living body, a symbol of both the personal and the universal, carrying a sense of community and magic. Anna Ferrer asks: what are we if there is no bread?

A large-scale scenic, visual, and sound production directed artistically by Ernesto Artillo, with musical direction by Álex Hernández, featuring actor Toni Ferrer and musicians Pol Batlle (guitars and vocals) and Toni Llull (percussion and vocals), along with choral contributions by Clara Enrich-Genestar, Laura Fernández, Helena Tajadura, Marcel Jorquera, Joan Taltavull, and Ricardo Lluch.

The repertoire explores Menorcan oral and popular traditions, alongside international pieces and original compositions. Songs such as Aigo and Yeri Yeri are part of this new album, which will be released on April 24.

Anna Ferrer, roots music

Anna Ferrer is a singer-songwriter born in Maó, known for her delicate and contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Menorcan music. Her work combines Menorcan folk roots with modern influences, creating an intimate, distinctive, and deeply personal style.

She began her professional career at the age of 14 with the group S’Albaida, with whom she recorded Xalandria (2008) and Soldemà (2020). In 2017 she released Tel·lúria, her first solo album, followed by Krönia (2019) and Parenòstic(2021), a more experimental record that earned her the 2025 Enderrock Balearic Music Awards for Best Folk Album and the Audience Award.
