“All Roads Lead to Blue”, Lluís Febrer’s pictorial view of Menorca

Foodie travellers visiting Menorca during these days can complement their gastronomic discovery of the island with a cultural experience in Ferreries. Until 15 November, the exhibition hall at the Centre Sociocultural is hosting “Tots els camins menen al blau”, a show by painter Lluís Febrer in which Menorca’s landscapes, light and especially the blues of the sea take centre stage.

The exhibition brings together impressions and sensations inspired by the artist’s walks, excursions and short journeys around Menorca. Paths, trees, coastal corners, the sea and other everyday landscapes are transformed into paintings through a personal gaze that seeks to capture the atmosphere of the island rather than provide a strictly documentary reproduction.

Blue acts as the connecting thread throughout the exhibition. It is the blue of the water and sky, but also a way of bringing together landscape, memory and emotion. Around it appear the greens of the vegetation, the tones of Menorcan stone and the contrasts of light that define much of the island’s visual identity.

For foodie travellers, a visit to the exhibition can be the perfect complement to a day exploring inland Menorca. Ferreries offers the chance to combine culture, walking and gastronomy: discover Lluís Febrer’s paintings, stroll through the town afterwards and end the day with an aperitif or dinner focused on Menorcan cuisine.
