Alaior invites visitors to discover its history through “Cent anys com a ciutat”, an open-air exhibition marking the centenary of the town’s official recognition as a city. The route brings together 48 historic photographs from the Fotos Ràdio archive, offering a different way to look at Alaior through scenes, streets, places and faces that form part of its collective memory.
The exhibition is displayed across several locations in the town centre, including sa Plaça Nova, sa Palmereta, es Pla des Pous, es Fossar, sa plaça des Ramal and the Convent de Sant Diego. In this way, a walk through Alaior becomes an accessible cultural experience.
The photographs belong to a valuable legacy begun by Bartolomé Orfila Mercadal and continued by Miquel Alzina and José Teixidor, three key figures in the town’s visual memory. On display until 31 July, this exhibition is a recommended stop for travellers who wish to better understand the spirit of Alaior and its evolution over the past century.
