This morning, the official presentation of the "Menorca on the Plate" Gastronomic Days took place at the Meliá Cala Galdana Hotel. This year, they are celebrating their 12th edition, consolidating their position as one of the most anticipated gastronomic events on the local calendar.
The event was attended by Antonio Sansaloni, president of the Menorcan Association of Cafeterias, Bars, and Restaurants, a member of PIME Menorca; and collaborators, represented by Begoña Mercadal, director of the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca; and Carolina Quevedo, manager of the Mahón-Menorca Cheese PDO, who highlighted the importance of this initiative as a driving force for promoting local produce, Menorcan cuisine, and boosting restaurant activity at the start of the season.
Under the slogan "Taste the typical flavors of Menorca," the events will be held from May 23 to June 1, 2025, with the participation of 14 restaurants spread across the island. Each restaurant will offer a special lunchtime and/or dinner menu, which will include a Mahón-Menorca cheese tasting, dishes prepared with traditional recipes or local products, desserts associated with Menorcan pastries, and a glass of wine (preferably from Menorcan wineries), as well as bread. The price of the menu will be set by each establishment.
As in previous editions, the Mahón-Menorca Cheese PDO is collaborating by providing two pieces of cheese to each participating restaurant, thus reinforcing the visibility of one of the star products of island cuisine.
